Lip Tip #1: MAC Lipstick Formulas

Fortune_Finds.JPG

Lipstick. My favorite beauty product of all beauty products! While lippies definitely hold a very special place in my heart, that one question remains; which formula reigns supreme? There are so many to choose from; traditional, matte, satin, stained, the list goes on & on, honestly.

I love lipstick. So much so, that my collection takes over my beauty room & yet, somehow, I’m still trying to find ‘the one’  – the shade I love the most, the formula I can’t live without, the one I buy in mass quantities because god forbid it’s discontinued before I take my last breathe. While I’m still on the hunt, MAC Cosmetics is always a safe place to start, with a variety of formulas to please the masses.

Here is a quick breakdown of the MAC finishes I own (shown left -> right)

Amplified; shade: Saint Germain $17.50

Super creamy formula with a smooth glide, bold color payoff & full coverage finish.

Matte; shade: Candy Yum Yum $17.50

Very high color payoff. There is absolutely no shine to these. They are a bit harder to work with – I suggest using a lip liner to really get those edges – but this formula lasts the longest. This formula is pretty drying, showing off any imperfections your lips may have. I typically throw a clear gloss over this, like this NYX one.

Cremesheen; shade: Speak Louder $17.50

A creamy, balmy lipstick formula with a very comfortable feel, medium build-able coverage with a semi-glossy finish. This formula is not super pigmented but is not sheer. These are very hydrating, but not that long-wearing.

Satin; shade: Faux $17.50

My all-time favorite formula AND shade (at least at the moment). A creamy formula with a soft-heavenly-feel. This formula provides medium-to-full buildable coverage with a satin finish. It has low shine w/ no shimmer & no drying effect. Can you say winner, winner??

Cremesheen; LIMITED EDITION shade: Among the Fireflies $17.50

A creamy, balmy lipstick formula with a very comfortable feel, medium build-able coverage with a semi-glossy finish. This formula is not super pigmented but is not sheer. These are very hydrating, but not that long-wearing.

Matte; shade: Russian Red $17.50

Very high color payoff. There is absolutely no shine to these. They are a bit harder to work with but this formula lasts the longest. They are typically very drying, showing off any imperfection your lips may have & are the hardest to remove.
