Lip Tip: The Difference in MAC Lipstick Formulas

IMG_2825

I have quite the collection of MAC lipsticks & while they are all the same brand, they are definitely not all the same formula or finish.

Here is a quick breakdown of the MAC finishes I have (shown left -> right):

Amplified; shade: Saint Germain $17.50
Super creamy formula with a smooth glide, bold colour payoff & full coverage finish.

Matte; shade: Candy Yum Yum $17.50
Very high color payoff. There is absolutely no shine to these. They are a bit harder to work with but this formula lasts the longest. They are typically very drying, showing off any imperfection your lips may have & are the hardest to remove.

Cremesheen; shade: Speak Louder $17.50
A creamy, balmy lipstick formula with a very comfortable feel, medium build-able coverage with a semi-glossy finish. This formula is not super pigmented but is not sheer. These are very hydrating, but not that long-wearing.

Satin; shade: Faux $17.50
My all-time favorite formula AND shade. A creamy formula with a soft-heavenly-feel. This formula provides medium-to-full build-able coverage with a satin finish. It has low shine w/ no shimmer & no drying effect.

Cremesheen; LIMITED EDITION shade: Among the Fireflies $17.50
(shown above) A creamy, balmy lipstick formula with a very comfortable feel, medium build-able coverage with a semi-glossy finish. This formula is not super pigmented but is not sheer. These are very hydrating, but not that long-wearing.

Matte; shade: Russian Red $17.50
(shown above) Very high color payoff. There is absolutely no shine to these. They are a bit harder to work with but this formula lasts the longest. They are typically very drying, showing off any imperfection your lips may have & are the hardest to remove.

What are you favorite MAC shades & finish? I’d love to hear in the comment section!
